Day trips from Marrakech are good value, and the booking platforms show the cheapest option first; on many trips that is the version without lunch, the guide or the boat. The option list states it clearly, and the costs on the day are paid in cash at the restaurant, the falls or the gate. This page collects them, without amounts.

Lunch in the title, lunch in the price

The point that comes up most often. These titles name lunch while the cheapest option is listed without it: the Ourika trips by Marrakech City Life (“Guide + Lunch”) and Mountain soul trips (“Riverside Lunch”), the Essaouira trip by marrakech best trips (“with Lunch”) and the Ouzoud trip by Ando Travel (“Boat Ride and Lunch”), where only option 3 and the private trip include it. The Ait Benhaddou trips leave lunch out completely. In the Atlas it is the other way round: most trips include a lunch at a family home, and only Marrakech Day Trips - Tours and the three-valley trip on Viator charge for it. Every Agafay trip includes dinner. The comparison table has a lunch column for every trip.

Guide and boat at Ouzoud

At Ouzoud the option decides three things at once. Ando Travel and Click Excursions sell a self-guided option without the local guide and the boat; the guided options add both, and lunch comes only with option 3 (and, at Ando, the private trip). Trip Spirit includes a guide in every option but sells the boat separately. marrakech city travel leaves out lunch, drinks and the boat and marks a further fee at the falls. The Ouzoud page shows the options in a table.

The Atlas Studios gate

No Ait Benhaddou trip on this site includes the entry to the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate. Click Excursions lists it as an extra (children under five free), marrakech best trips as optional and paid at the entrance, and Marrakech desert activities includes a guided visit but leaves the entry to you, in cash at the gate. On that trip a live guide inside the kasbah of Ait Benhaddou is a paid option, while the driver and escort come with the price. Studio guides may ask for a tip.

Pickup, quads and the pool

Most trips collect you at your hotel or riad, or at a meeting point nearby when the van cannot enter the medina. Moroccoguidesmile is the exception that charges for hotel pickup; from its central meeting points the transfer is free. On the Agafay quad trips two people share one quad, and Marrakech Day Trips - Tours sells riding alone as a more expensive option. The camp pools at Mouslih tour and TRIGADOS cost extra, and at Mouslih tour even table water and lemonade are not included. Toubkal Hiking may charge for pickups from hotels more than thirty minutes from the centre.

Cooperative stops

Almost every route stops at an argan oil cooperative, often run by women from the area, and some add a Berber house with tea. Both end in a shop. The stops are short, but on the long trips to Essaouira and Ait Benhaddou they come out of your time at the destination, and on the Click Excursions Essaouira trip the breakfast and coffee stops are marked with surcharges on the route.

Cash for the day

Plan for lunch where your option does not include it, drinks and water, tips for the driver and any local guide, and the entrance fees named above. At the Moroccoguidesmile camp extras can be paid by card or in cash; for the rest of the day, plan on cash, with small notes for tips.

What guests say about value

Value for money is the most common praise on the trips with lunch and activities in the price, and several reviewers single out the lunch at a family home or the camp dinner. One reviewer of an Imlil trip found the tea stop and the cosmetics sellers on the way too long.

“A wonderful excursion offering excellent value for money given the various experiences included; the scenery was stunning, and Ali, the guide, was incredibly kind and extremely helpful throughout.”

FAQ

Why are day trips from Marrakech so cheap?

The price shown first is the cheapest option, which often leaves out lunch, the local guide or the boat. Compare the option list, not only the price.

Is tipping expected on day trips?

Tips are listed as not included on many trips, among them the Tours From Marrakech trips, the five-valley trips and the Agafay evening by Mouslih tour. A tip for the driver and the local guide is customary if you were happy with the day.

Do I need cash on a day trip?

Yes. Lunch where your option leaves it out, drinks, entrance fees such as the Atlas Studios, and tips are usually paid in cash on the day.

Is hotel pickup included?

On almost every trip here, either at your hotel or at a meeting point nearby when the van cannot reach your riad. Moroccoguidesmile charges extra for pickup at the hotel.
