This page explains who runs it, how it is financed and where the data comes from.
Who is behind this site
marrakech-escapes.com is run by Patrick Kühne, an independent travel publisher based in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, Germany. He builds and maintains a small portfolio of guides to attraction tickets and day tours. There is no agency and no rotating editorial team behind this site: the pages are researched, written and kept up to date by one person, the same one who answers the e-mails.
What this site does
A day trip from Marrakech can mean forty minutes on the road to a desert camp or three and a half hours each way over the Tizi n’Tichka pass. The low prices on the booking platforms hide a second difference: the cheapest option of many trips leaves out lunch, the boat at Ouzoud or the guide in the village, and some entrance fees are paid in cash on the day. We list the drive, the time at the destination, the walking and those extra costs for each trip, so that you can compare like with like. We are not a booking agent; every reservation happens on the booking platform.
How we earn money
When you book through one of our links, the platform pays us a commission. Your price stays the same: the commission comes out of the platform’s margin, not your pocket. No contract obliges us to favour a particular operator, and our comparisons are ordered by number of reviews, not by what pays us best.
Where our data comes from
Prices, ratings and review counts are pulled from our booking partners’ APIs and refreshed automatically several times a day. Inclusions, pickup rules, itineraries and the costs paid on site come from the operators’ product pages and are re-checked regularly. Where options differ in what they include, for example lunch only in the second option, we point that out; where a listing is unclear, we leave the point out rather than guess. Found something out of date? Write to us and we will correct it.
What we are not
We do not run any tours and we are not affiliated with any operator mentioned on this site. They run the trips; we describe them. For binding information on cancellations, road closures and pickup times, the operator’s own channels always take precedence.
