Over the Tizi n’Tichka

The road climbs from the Haouz plain to the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2,260 m and winds down the far side to Ouarzazate. It is the reason the day takes ten to twelve hours: pickup between seven and eight in the morning, three to four hours each way with stops near the pass, return after dark. If you get carsick on mountain roads, take precautions before you set off.

In winter snow can close the pass. Marrakech desert activities states that it postpones the trip or refunds it when snow is heavy or the road is officially closed. Visiting the Atlas Studios

The film studios outside Ouarzazate are paid separately on every trip here. marrakech best trips explains that the studios are run by the municipality with their own guides, so its tour guide cannot go in with you and the studio staff take over for that part of the day; studio guides may ask for a tip, which is not mandatory. Opinions on the studios vary: reviewers of the Click Excursions trip preferred the kasbah, and one found the studios flooded and visited a film museum instead. If the kasbah is your main reason to go, the trip with the longest time there is the best match.

Lunch and cash

Lunch is not included on any Ait Benhaddou trip here. You pay for a restaurant in Ait Benhaddou or bring your own food. Add the studio entry, tickets, drinks and, if you want one, a live guide in the kasbah, and an Ait Benhaddou day needs more cash on hand than most trips from Marrakech. The climb through the kasbah

The fortified village rises up a hillside, and the visit means steps and uneven paths up to the top. Click Excursions does not recommend the trip for people with limited mobility; the other two list wheelchair users as not suitable, and marrakech best trips also people with back problems. The same road to the Sahara

The multi-day tours from Marrakech to the dunes of Merzouga usually drive this route and stop at Ait Benhaddou on the first day.
